Inspired by the above quote from Franz Kafka's 'Metamorphosis' I designed and directed an aerial circus performance of my interpretation of Gregor's metamorphosis into a beetle.

The hand knitted 'liquid' was attached to interchangeable mouthpieces designed to distort the performer's face into unnatural positions. The movements were both slow and angular with outbursts of violent thrashes reflective of their discomfort.

A secondary performance saw the performer completely consumed by the knitted 'liquid' unable to find their escape.
